Worn boots, bold dreams. I grow vineyards by rule, by discipline and by people.
Philosophy shapes the vision, but it’s the crews, trained, long-tenured and invested, who lift the vines and in turn the wine.
Five years in the U.S. Army, the last two as a radar operations sergeant in Iraq, taught me what a crew can do when every person knows their job. I studied viticulture and enology at Washington State University, and began working as a viticulturist at Klipsun Vineyards, my introduction to high-end winegrowing.
In 2013 I stepped in as general manager of Elephant Mountain and Sugarloaf, two of the most demanding high-elevation vineyards in the state. Then I founded Brothers In Farms. What began as vineyard consulting is now a crew of 60 managing 15 vineyards across Washington and northeastern Oregon: the Walla Walla Valley, Red Mountain, the Yakima Valley and the Rattlesnake Hills.
This path gave me the chance to come back and buy the very vineyard I cut my teeth at and fell in love with: Elephant Mountain. Moctoe is two decades of experience and relationships in a single effort.
This wine isn’t just for me. It’s for the people I’ve worked next to all these years. We decide exactly how the grape is grown, and we cut no corners.
