The Letter
Friends,
For two decades, I’ve shaped some of Washington’s most celebrated wines, quietly, until now. After twenty years behind the scenes, I’m releasing my own.
Moctoe. Named for the boots that carry me through endless days in the field.
One rule: let Elephant Mountain speak through every bottle. From the vineyard I now own. South-facing, 1,500 feet, own-rooted, from the original 1998 plantings, the purest expression of where it all began. The 2024 is the first wine from the vineyard I fell in love with years ago, and the first vintage since it became ours. We believed in it enough to put everything on it.
Moctoe has one principle: to craft a definitive wine that shows the land, our knowledge and the hands that tend it. The way the people who farm would have it done, with no compromises.
Through the Boot Program, the crew shares in the rewards: 10% of every bottle goes to the crew. The same hands, decades in the dirt. Because great wine doesn’t start in the bottle. It starts in the boots.
If I’m lucky, I get forty vintages in a lifetime. I’d like you to taste them with me.
